DO YOU SUFFER FROM DAILY OR ALMOST DAILY HEADACHES?

We are investigating a potential new treatment for a type of persistent headache.

We are looking for people from Adelaide aged 18 years or older who have persistent daily or almost daily headache for which they frequently take strong painkillers.

There is a list of some of the painkillers we are interested in the table below:


Medications containing codeine:

Chemists Own Pain tablets, Chemists Own Dolased

Codapane, Codapane Forte

Codalgin, Codalgin Plus, Codalgin Forte

Fiorinal, Fiorinal Dental, Tensodeine

Merysndol Day Strength, Mersyndol Night, Merysndol Forte

Panadeine, Panadeine Extra, Panadeine Forte

Panamax Co., Prodeine 15, Prodeine Forte

Nurofen Plus, Panafen Plus, ProVen Plus

Aspalgin, Codis, Dispirin Forte

Medications containing other opioids

Endone, OxyNorm, OxyContin, Proladone

MS Contin, Kapanol, MS Mono, Ordine, Sevredol, Amamorph

Actiq, Durogesic, Physeptone, Dilaudid, Jurnista

 

The aim of the study is to trial a new medication that may help to reduce your headache burden.

The study will involve:

  • A screening visit A screening visit to see if you are suitable for the study

  • A familiarisation session on the screening day, to ensure you are accustomed to the procedures to be used in the main part of the study

  • A visit where we test your pain sensitivity and give you the study medication, which you will take for 8 weeks

  • Three visits where we will test your pain sensitivity (two while you are taking the study medication and one at the end of your treatment)

  • A follow up phone call 3 months after you finish taking the study medication

  • Filling in a headache diary, which records information about your headaches, between the screening and baseline visits, during the 8 weeks of treatment, and for 4 weeks after your follow up phone call.

You will be compensated for your time.
