Speaker: Dr Hayley Guiney

Dr Hayley Guiney is Head of Evidence and Insights at Jean Hailes for Women’s Health, where she leads the National Women’s Health Survey and a range of research and evaluation projects that inform national policy, health programs, and community initiatives.

With a PhD in psychology and nearly 15 years of experience across government departments, academic settings, and NGOs, Dr Guiney brings deep expertise in applying insights from psychology and public health to shape policies and interventions that improve health and wellbeing. She is recognised for her ability to turn complex evidence into clear, actionable insights for decision-makers.

Recently, she led a landmark national research project in collaboration with Migraine & Headache Australia and the Brain Foundation, which revealed the true scale and impact of migraine among Australian women. The study highlighted how migraine affects work, mental health, family life, and self-esteem—and why it remains under-recognised in women’s health.

At this event, Dr Guiney will share key findings from this research, explore the hidden costs of migraine, and show how quality data can drive earlier diagnosis, better treatment, and stronger support for those affected.
